Bounce
Have you heard the term “bounce” when referring to your clubs. What is “bounce” and why is it important. Bounce is the angle created when the trailing edge of your wedge sits lower than the leading edge on a flat surface. Having bounce prevents the leading edge from digging to deep and actually makes it easier to make crisp contact from many different lies. Some clubs say low bounce or 3 degrees, others have a lot of bounce, say 14 degrees. How do you decide how much bounce you should have? If the bunkers you typically play have hard sand you want minimal bounce so you can use the leading edge. Very soft sand, you would need high bounce. If the fairways you play typically are wet or spongy, you would desire a lot of bounce, although rock hard fairways you would want little bounce. Wisconsin typically has spongy fairways and hard sand, so you must pick your poison. My recommendation is too make sure your wedges have different bounce, that way you ready for any of our local courses.
