Family Range Days

In the Fall of 2014, Golf Course Owner Guy spent way too much time driving back and forth on the Practice Range picking up range balls. While I aimlessly drove, I thought about my wife, who doesn't really play golf, my little girls 5 & 8 that are just getting interested, the under utilized or under maximized practice range on weekend afternoons, the target greens that are already built, and the overall need to get families more interested in golf for the future success of places like Royal St. Patrick's Golf Links.

In an effort to promote the game, get exposure for RSPGL, make golf more affordable for families, and in an effort to get both adults and children engaged in that sweet sensation of hitting the ball, we have created a new program for Saturday and Sunday afternoons named FAMILY RANGE DAYS.

Beginning at 2:00pm on both Saturday and Sundays and running until practice range closes that evening, parents or grandparents can bring out children under the age of 14 and learn / practice as a FAMILY. Here is how it works:

For Just $25 Total

* Family Can Hit Unlimited Practice Balls

* Golf Links Can Provide FREE Clubs To Kids Who Do Not Have Them

* Family Will Receive Appetizer & Pitcher of Soda In Crosswind Grille

I have more than 50 sets of junior clubs in varying sizes all with bags. Some of these sets will even be for sale if the golf bug bites hard. It is our goal to have our dedicated teaching staff and our volunteer instructors on the Practice Range helping you learn the game of golf.

How Do We Enjoy FAMILY RANGE DAY?

It's easy, just show up and say I want to do Family Range Day. Pay your $25 in the golf shop. Balls are available outside, clubs will be ready if needed, each family will receive their ticket for appetizer and soda. I highly recommend eating out on the veranda deck, it's a spectacular way to finish a nice practice session.

Parents or Grandparents I encourage you to show a few basic etiquettes, but mostly be concerned for safety. Real balls and swinging clubs, hurt the skull no matter how old you are.

There are many goals of FAMILY RANGE DAYS. Parents might see it as a great way to practice together. Grandparents might see it as a great way to tire the kids out. I see it as a great way to expose people to the facility including the restaurant, but more importantly getting people to fall in love with the game. We all love golf because of the way we feel when we hit a really solid shot. With so much clutter in life today, many kids might never have the opportunity to be interested in the game unless they get these kinds of riskless exposures.

Family Golf Opportunities

Parent / Child Special After 5:30pm

I apologize if you read this, find out we’ve been doing it for 20 years, and wonder how you didn’t know. Every night of the week, beginning at 5:30pm we have the Parent / Child Special as a junior golf discount promotion. For a TOTAL of $16, you and your child (age 17 or younger) can take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy the Links. Have more than one child, we will just charge an additional $8 per child.

Evenings here behind the leagues, or after weekend twilight are quiet and beautiful. Use this as another great opportunity to educate your child about this great game. Cart fees are additional, but are not mandatory.

Little Linksters Junior Golf Program

Little Linkster Junior Golf Sign-Up is not yet live. The 4 week program with run every Sunday July -Aug, dates TBD. Depending on age (7-12), we will do one hour sessions from 11:00-12:00 and 12:00-1:00. The program will be run this year by Assistant Professional Abbey Manske. Cost will be $75 per child and can be handled online. The program is geared towards beginners. Learning fundamentals, and having fun through skill challenges. Like everything we do, we will keep a cap on the size of the program. I see no upside in having a group that is too large to manage.

Nick has made a great effort to make our family feel welcome. I know he has a family of his own, and he gets that golf can be a money and time problem. We want to show our kids golf, and he helps us do that.

That parent-child thing they run after 5:30pm every night is an absolute steal. I can't really take advantage anymore because my last kid graduated high school this past Spring, but we really loved doing that with all my kids over the years. We'd get out there behind league, no one pushing us, course is beautiful, and we could kind of go at our own pace. I'm always amazed they have kept that deal right at $8 a person, and I think it's still there. Maybe someday I will have some grand children who will want to play.
